MASKGI End-of-Season Meeting
September 27, 2001
6-9 PM
Lord Camden Inn
Camden, Maine

6 pm Pizza, Welcome, Introductions
6:15 -- 7:00 Guide licensing, 2002
Sergeant Mark Warren, from the Maine Guide Board, IF&W, will come tell us about major changes happening within the guide licensing process. These are changes that will affect every guide applicant starting in 2002.
7:00 -- 7:30 Public Islands use, summer 2001.
How did the summer go? The Maine Island Trail Association would like to get some feedback from the guiding community about how the new guidelines worked for everyone this season, and what should come next. Think about what problems you saw, what worked well, what didn’t work etc… What should MASKGI’s role be in the future in relation to Public Island use? We will also view a recent 10-minute TV show from "the Green Outdoors" about MITA’s work in collaboration with MASKGI.
7:30 -- 8:15 Professional development: VHF radio review!
Many MASKGI members have expressed a desire for professional development opportunities. Matthew Levin (Maine Sport and former MASKGI president) has agreed to kick off the new MASKGI professional development options with an in-depth review of VHF radio use and protocol. We’ll open it up to a discussion about electronic communications and safety for outfitters.
We’ll also spend a few minutes seeking ideas for future professional development ideas. (Leave No Trace and Wilderness first Responder or First Aid trainings are some current suggestions)
